Instructions.   Yes more instructions, but these are much simpler.  Make sure you’ve installed the 5.00 M33 firmware before processing otherwise you’re going to cause yourself a lot of headache.

  • Extract the patch you want to install to your computer.
  • Copy the Update folder to X:/PSP/GAME/ on your PSP’s memory stick.
  • Run 5.00 M33-X UPDATE from under Game on your PSP’s XMB
  • After all process is complete, press X. Your PSP will reboot.
  • Congratulations, you’ve just installed 5.00 M33-X

Do note that X means the patch you’ve decided to download.

5.00 M33-6

Changes includes those from subsequent patches:

  • Fixed a bug that made unbootable PSP without memory stick or with a bad one.

5.00 M33-5

Changes includes those from subsequent patches:

  • A setting has been added to recovery, that, when enabled it may increase memory stick reading speed. (only on the psp, not in the pc).
  • By default it is disabled. If you installed 3.71 fatmsmod, do not use this setting, as its performance with 3.71 driver has not been tested. Instead, reinstall 5.00 m33-4 using dc8 and update to 5.00 m33-5

5.00 M33-4

Changes includes those from subsequent patches:

  • Speed selected for umd/iso was not properly locked in some new games that used scePower_EBD177D6 instead of scePowerSetClockFrequency to change speed.
  • UMD/ISO speed settings now apply to PSN games too.
  • Fixed libupdown.prx connecting to dark-alex.org instead of sony when npsignin_plugin checks for a new version and m33 update is enabled.
  • Iso file descriptor was not closed in driver deletion
  • Added a shutdown command to vshmenu.

5.00 M33-3

Changes includes those from subsequent patches:

  • PSN version check is now automatically bypassed without need of touching any setting

Dude If you follow the directions nothing goes wrong. It says incorrect file maybe because you put the cfw and changed it to 500.pbp you have to change the FW to 500.pbp and leave the cfw as eboot.pbp

Yes, you can upgrade to this firmware directly. To be able to play Peace Walker though, you need to install the prometheus module for this firmware.

I had cfw 3.71 m33 installed but then I accidently updated to ofw 5.00 instead of cfw 5.00 m33.

Do I still need a Pandora battery to install cfw 5.00 m33?

  • Luthor on 04 Feb 10 at 08:02:04 said:

Sorry. I found out how to…. Took out the battery and i’m back to 3,52m33. I’ll try sylv3rblade’s advise to others with the same prob.

I should also mention that the firmware is 3,80 m33-5, not the reg firmware.

  • Darkelemrnt on 07 Jun 10 at 00:44:11 said:

Re-scratch everything. Now, I’ve been able to download official Firmware 5.00 by creating an update folder and not re-naming the EBOOT file (can u tell i skipped one of the steps, oops). So do I need to your directions on how to convert my psp to coustom firmware, or is the custom firmware already downloaded, it just didnt copy the name correctly?

  • sylv3rblade on 07 Jun 10 at 01:36:20 said:

Well you need the instructions above to upgrade your existing firmware to 5.00 M33. Otherwise you might end up installing the official firmware and end up in a whole lot of trouble :(
