Want Dual Analog on your PSP? Wait for PSP Plus
Instead of a redesign (by adding the highly requested 2nd analog stick), Sony innovates by adding a brand new technology on it’s games to give PSP gamers a better gaming experience. How? How about a 2nd analog stick and the rumble effect?
So how will the PSP gain said features? Via the DualShock 3 controller.
PSP Plus, Sony’s new technology for the PSP (obviously) allows the integration of the PSP (Slim AND Brite only) and the DualShock 3.
What is PSP Plus?
Is it hardware? A new firmware?
Both no. PSP Plus is an in game feature that developers add to titles like Resistance: Retribution (as of the moment it’s the only game with the said feature). PSP Plus will allow owners of both PSP and PlayStation 3 systems to experience a whole new (better?) control scheme.
How is it done?
Simple, you just plug the AV-output capable PSP (2000 and 3000 models) and connect the PSP to the PS3 via USB and you’ll be able to switch on PSP Plus control through the in game options. The result? DualShock 3 control support on your PSP while you play the game on your television with a PS3 controller.
Is it worth it?
For a new experience? Not quite. Attaching your PSP to your PS3 to play a game removes the Portable charm of the console, plus you need to own a PSP, a PS3 with DualShock 3 or a better controller AND a PSP Plus enabled game.
Is Sony milking the cash cow? Yep.
Just give us our 2nd analog stick already.
