Obligatory Monster Hunter character update

I haven’t been playing Monster Hunter like I used to but I think I’ve come pretty far off. I started with Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and reached up to HR 4 before Monster Hunter P2G (the japanese version of Unite) came out. Since there it they had different languages, I had to ask one of the good peeps at PinoyPSP for a conversion and imported my character to P2G.

A few months of playing later I got to HR 6. As luck had it I lost my PSP-2000 :(. Lucky for me, I had the habit of backing up my saved games so I only lost about a week’s worth of hunting. If I remember right, that week was me hunting HR6 Silver Rathalos’s and Golden Rathians for rubies (yes it was THAT frustrating) :D.

Six months later I was able to get a refurbed PSP-1000 and continued where I left off. After just a month (I got my PSP phat June 29 :D), I’m now:

Monster Hunter

The hardest part for me now is finding time to play. Work is currently a time sinkhole; same goes for the project (linked for sneak peek :D) I’m working on getting launched so I get about 2-3 hours playing time at most, all solo. On that note, I really miss the Monster Hunter Weekend as we used to call it. A number of circumstances simply killed it for us πŸ™

As of now, I’m just working on my equipment and the Guild Card (some of my achievements don’t seem to be showing up) so I spend most of my research time on Minegarde. You should too, since it’s one of the few Monster Hunter communities that’s active and provide quality discussions and content.

Personally, I love Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (or P2G, depends on your version. I’m sticking to the Japanese for the download quests) but I think I only have about a year to keep on playing it. No I haven’t grown out of Monster Hunter, it’s still pretty much one of my top games to play. The problem is the Monster Hunter Tri videos ruined it for me. πŸ˜€ I’ve spent so much time watching videos of actual gameplay that I’m already willing to shell out cash for the Japanese release and a Japanese Wii.

Plus there’s just about a few monsters I haven’t met/killed/captured so the excitement factor is a bit low now, especially since the Naruga Weapons (currently I have the GL, LS, DS, Lance and Hammer) that I’ve created make quick work of most quests in HR7-8. I’m still wary of going to HR9 quests except when farming for Divine Plates because I often die πŸ˜€

I thought of ending this entry with some tips but I’m running late for work πŸ˜€ Thanks for reading. If you guys (those in the Philippines at least, in Ayala specifically) need help with your quests, send me a PM. I’ll be glad to help you out πŸ˜€ If you’re just starting out, be sure to read Aaron’s beginner’s guide to Monster Hunter Freedom Unite it’s quite comprehensive and is sure to help you out on your hunting newbness. πŸ˜€

Hey thanks for the link! Hope my guide is helpful to those new to the game.

Would of commented sooner but this one page of your blog is blocked at work and I’ve been without Internet at home for ages (been moving around a bit).

    Anyways thanks again. πŸ™‚

Well good to see you’re back, if but for a while πŸ˜€
I’m guessing your company blocked the word “Monster” for some reason, just like mine.
