Sounds like you bricked it. You’re going to need a Pandora battery to fix it.

Is it necessary to upgrade to gen b-2 after gen-b?? Thanks!

    • sylv3rblade on 10 Jan 10 at 05:30:44 said:

Yep. Especially if you want to upgrade to 5.50 GEN-D3. Even if you don’t plan on upgrading, it’s still recommended to install the GEN B-2 patch.

      • Cephei on 10 Jan 10 at 08:58:08 said:

After upgrading my psp to 5.50 GEN-B2 in the system information, it is still GEN-B (Full).

        is it really like that??

    • sylv3rblade on 17 Jan 10 at 04:53:54 said:

Yep. I guess the GEN TEAM forgot to update the version number with GEN-B2 but rest assured that it was successfully installed.

i’m trying to upgrade my psp from 5.50 GEN B to GEN-B2, when i try to update it, it said the data is corrupted. Should upgrade to GEN C then to GEN D?

    • sylv3rblade on 25 Jan 10 at 00:20:42 said:

No, you don’t need GEN-C to upgrade to GEN-D. The files you’ve downloaded are probably corrupted, try downloading it again.

      • adhi on 28 Jan 10 at 05:34:21 said:

iis it save to just transfer all downloaded files to the PSP? (overwriting it)

        • adhi on 28 Jan 10 at 06:15:38 said:

I got a problem. When I start the updater it said like this:
          Please wait… i need work…
          Done with success

Checked the version it still says : 5.50 GEN-B (Full). What should I do?

i have a psp with version 5.03 mhu can i put gen d3

  • Lord Rance on 17 Apr 10 at 20:07:33 said:

Erm, yes… I have a question… how can you confirm if you already have the GEN-B2 fix if you can only see GEN-B (FULL) in the system information? I just had my CFW updated from a shop a month or so ago, and I just recently downloaded PS:P2 and found I cannot play it with my current CFW, so I wanna upgrade to D3. I’m not sure whether I have the original GEN-B CFW or the GEN-B2 CFW.

    • sylv3rblade on 17 Apr 10 at 21:56:24 said:

There’s really no way to know :( . You can however run the installer for GEN-B2 whether you’re still on 5.50 GEN-B or 5.50 GEN-B2 safely. It’ll simply add/overwrite files.

      • Lord Rance on 17 Apr 10 at 22:06:23 said:

Okay. So just download the file 5.50_GEN_B2.zip posted from above, install like so from the instructions, download XGen updater and install GEN-D3, right? By the way, no need for the Pandora battery thing right? ‘Coz I don’t have that. The shop I went to has that, and they’re the ones who installed GEN-B (Full) into my PSP. That shop’s pretty far from where I’m living though.

        • Lord Rance on 17 Apr 10 at 22:54:46 said:

Erm, in addition to my previous post, I won’t need an internet connection while doing the updating as well, right?

        • sylv3rblade on 18 Apr 10 at 11:12:23 said:

Yep you just need to download the file above :) . And yes no need for a pandora battery :)

          • Lord Rance on 18 Apr 10 at 19:20:00 said:

Cool, had it working now. Pretty nifty too, this updater. I won’t need to journey to a PSP shop just to have a firmware updated. I can just stay home, download and install. Kudos to the developer.

I recently upgraded from 5.00 m33-6 to 5.50 GEN A. My problem is that my select button on my psp is broken and it just keeps pressing. When I was on 5.00 m33-6, I disabled vsh menu because my psp won’t respond the buttons. Then when I upgraded to 5.50 GEN A, I couldn’t disable the vsh menu. So, I can’t access my XMB or the psp. I can only access the “Recovery” mode. Is there another way to run the upgrade without going into the XMB? Please Help Thanks!
