Have Something To Say ?

    yes…at last there’s a post for 5.50 gen-b!!

  2. JBoxMods July 15, 2009 Reply

So with going through the instructions here it does come up with “working… blah blah blah”
    then “done with success!”

    but I’m still at 5.00 M33-6

I’m used to DA’s fw where you have to have the official updater as well (I can only assume it needs to be named 550.pbp and be in the game\update folder), is that not needed in this one? I have it, but the readme for 550 gen-b is 90% french.

    Lil help?

    • sylv3rblade July 15, 2009 Reply

no. You just need the 5.50 Eboot file. It’s written on the guide.

  3. Zeidrich July 16, 2009 Reply

    i think u need to be in 5.50 gen-a to update to 5.50 gen-b

    • sylv3rblade August 22, 2009 Reply

That simply means you don’t have any plugins to disable. You can jump to installing 5.50 GEN-A then GEN-B right away.

  10. Damian August 26, 2009 Reply

what is the difference between GEN-B and the firmware 5.00-M33 6??? is GEN-B a cracked software??

    • sylv3rblade August 28, 2009 Reply

5.50 GEN-B is the latest custom firmware release, with it, you can play games that need firmware versions above 5.00 and PSN downloaded/bought ones. Access to PSN store is only available via THIS firmware only.

No it’s not cracked (because this is not an application).

      Madden 2010 requires 5.50 GEN-B to play. Since you’re already on 5.00 M33, just update to 5.50 GEN-A then to GEN-B.

    • Gonzo October 13, 2009 Reply

You might want to try putting the update on a different memory stick if you have one or make sure that you delete Gen A before putting Gen B on the MS. I tried it to put both on the same stick and one of them always shows up as corrupted.

  37. J October 9, 2009 Reply

I have succesfully hacked and updated my PSP all the way to CFW 5.50 GEN-B (Full)
I started with 5.00 M33-6 yesterday, and no matter what ISO I downloaded and put on the system (I tried an ISO Directory in the root directory, I tried putting them in the Games directory, I even tried putting them in Games/ISO) they show up as Corrupted files, every one. I’ve tried the new Clone Wars Game, the new NFS Shift, etc, even tried an older game, Pursuit Force, still showed up as corrupted. I have the UMD set to M33 No UMD Needed in configuration, is there something else I missed?

    • sylv3rblade October 9, 2009 Reply

If you’re getting a corrupted file error, chances are there is something that’s preventing you from copying the game/s properly. Try using a memory card reader to directly copy your games to the memory stick instead.

  40. Gonzo October 10, 2009 Reply

How do you access the VSH menu on CFW 5.50 GEN B. I tried the reset button but it is not working.

    • sylv3rblade October 10, 2009 Reply

5.50 GEN firmwares have the VSH menu disabled by default, you need to restart your PSP holding the R button and access the recovery menu. You can enable it there.

You have to make an ISO folder on the root of your memory stick (when you open your memory stick on your computer where the musics PSP and the rest of the files) just make one there and you can make it there and copy all your iso’s and cso’s there

Yep. Especially if you want to upgrade to 5.50 GEN-D3. Even if you don’t plan on upgrading, it’s still recommended to install the GEN B-2 patch.

No, you don’t need GEN-C to upgrade to GEN-D. The files you’ve downloaded are probably corrupted, try downloading it again.

  63. Lord Rance April 17, 2010 Reply

Erm, yes… I have a question… how can you confirm if you already have the GEN-B2 fix if you can only see GEN-B (FULL) in the system information? I just had my CFW updated from a shop a month or so ago, and I just recently downloaded PS:P2 and found I cannot play it with my current CFW, so I wanna upgrade to D3. I’m not sure whether I have the original GEN-B CFW or the GEN-B2 CFW.

    • sylv3rblade April 17, 2010 Reply

There’s really no way to know :(. You can however run the installer for GEN-B2 whether you’re still on 5.50 GEN-B or 5.50 GEN-B2 safely. It’ll simply add/overwrite files.

      • Lord Rance April 17, 2010 Reply

Okay. So just download the file 5.50_GEN_B2.zip posted from above, install like so from the instructions, download XGen updater and install GEN-D3, right? By the way, no need for the Pandora battery thing right? ‘Coz I don’t have that. The shop I went to has that, and they’re the ones who installed GEN-B (Full) into my PSP. That shop’s pretty far from where I’m living though.

        • Lord Rance April 17, 2010

Erm, in addition to my previous post, I won’t need an internet connection while doing the updating as well, right?

        • sylv3rblade April 18, 2010

Yep you just need to download the file above :). And yes no need for a pandora battery 🙂

        • Lord Rance April 18, 2010

Cool, had it working now. Pretty nifty too, this updater. I won’t need to journey to a PSP shop just to have a firmware updated. I can just stay home, download and install. Kudos to the developer.

    • sylv3rblade January 17, 2011 Reply

No, don’t update, it’ll install the latest OFW on your PSP. Try updating to 5.50 GEN-D3 as 5.50 GEN-B hasn’t addressed this.

      After updating:
Register your PSP then go to the Network on your PS3 (not Network under Settings) and use Remote Play (its above Internet Browser). Then on your PSP go to Remote play and pick the PS3 to connect.

Thanks for the help, I ended up having to start from gen-b2 to gen-d up to d3. I couldnt go straight from gen-b straight to gen-d3.

Pleease help! I want to play Need for speed underground rivals for some time now there are a few problems with the firmwares ive tested. I have a psp phat model and 5.50 GEN-A on it. The real problem is that when i try to update to 5.50 GEN-B it says “Please wait….. I need some work” then it says “Done with success” but then it sends me back to the XMB and im still on 5.50 GEN-A. Please help ASAP thanks in advance
