If you need to identify your PSP’s model (specifically what motherboard type is your PSP-3000) then you’ll need to install PSP Ident or this, the PSP Module Checker. One of the advantages of PSP Module Checker compared to the older, more popular PSP Ident is that it can be run on any PSP, regardless of whether your have CFW installed or not.

How to Install and run PSP Module Checker:

Download the PSP Module Checker for your PSP (either CFW or OFW)
Extract the file and copy the resulting PSPmoduleChecker folder to x:/PSP/GAME/
Run the application from your XMB

v3.0 Change:

Fixed many BUGs.
Add Kernel Version detection.
Add CPU Frequency detection.
Add detection Tachyon address.
Add detection Baryon address.
Add detection Pommel address.

Despite the setbacks, the PRO PSP CFW Team has release new update to their PSP PRO CFW build (PRO-B10) 6.20 OFW, 6.35 OFW, 6.39 OFW and even the latest PlayStation Portable OFW, 6.60 OFW

The PSP PRO dev team recently suffered a major blow with the loss of ColdBird from the team.

6.20 Pro-B10, 6.35 Pro-B10, 6.39 Pro-B10 and 6.60 Pro-B10 are now available for download.

The new Pro LCFW build brings the usual bug fixes like fixing UMD support, fixing problems with PSP Go‘s video mount and improves future compatibility with games and the inferno driver.

ColdBird officially quits the PSP scene

Looks like we have to say goodbye to another great developer from the PSP scene.

ColdBird has official thrown down the towel :/ due perhaps to the stress of coping with griefers, whiners and trolls. His departure from the Pro Team and the dev scene will likely hamper the upcoming release of the much anticipated release of the L/CFW PRO-C. This new build is expected to bring Xlink Kai-like functionality straight to your PSP. Pro fans will have expect a longer wait until PRO-C is released

First Total_Noob and now ColdBird. Thanks whiners, you’ve made another great developer leave the scene. :/

Davee’s 09g Downgrader

While some1′s current release of his 6.xx Downgrader works wonders, PSP owners with 08g and 09g models are left out of the option of downgrading to 6.20. Thanks Sony. PSP Dev Davee took up the challenge of looking for away to allow these PSP models to downgrade to 6.20 and allow you to install Total_Noob’s 6.20 TN-E and/or the latest 6.20 PRO build.

Warning: Despite being tested with multiple units, do note that downgrading is still dangerous and it’s possible to brick your PSP. If you do proceed with the downgrade, you can go ahead and install the permanent patch for your chosen LCFW/HEN build but be forewarned that with this method, your PSP won’t identified properly (and may cause some problems in the future).

If the warning has shaken you, just use some1′s downgrader instead.

Requirements:

A 08g or 09g PSP. If you have a different PSP model, use this guide instead.

6.20 OFW for 09g: Mirror 1

How to downgrade your 09g PSP to 6.20 OFW.

Create an Update folder in PSP/GAME.
Extract 620DowngraderDavee.zip and PSP_6.20_FW_UPDATE.zip
Copy the ChronoSwitch Downgrader folder PSP/GAME
Copy the EBOOT.pbp file PSP/GAME
Run the Davee’s Downgrader from your XMB
Follow the instructions on the screen.
After the install a blue screen will appear. Press O to restore your settings.

ProTip: If you get white screen instead of blue, completely turn off your PSP and turn it on again then as fast as you can hit the following combination of buttons : Select + Start + Square + Triangle

Well that didn’t take long. The PSP PRO dev team has released a new update to their LCFW build (PRO-B9) for 6.20 OFW, 6.35 OFW, 6.39 OFW and even the latest PlayStation Portable OFW, 6.60 OFW.

6.20 Pro-B9, 6.35 Pro-B9, 6.39 Pro-B9 and 6.60 Pro-B9 are now available for download. The Pro-B9 build LCFW brings bug fixes, support for the PSP Go‘s video mount and improves future compatibility with games and the inferno driver.

Downgrade your PSP from 6.60 OFW

If you have accidentally upgraded to 6.60 OFW and found yourself with your ISOs no longer working, you’re in luck. PSP Developer some1 (of 6.xx to 6.20 downgrader fame) has released a new version of his signed downgrader which will allow you to downgrade your PSP to 6.39 OFW, 6.35 OFW or 6.20 OFW.

Update: If you don’t want to downgrade, you can install 6.60 PRO-B9.

Simply visit my updated Downgrade your PSP to any 6.xx OFW guide for more information.

Important note, this guide is formerly just a post for 6.38 to 6.20 downgrade. Since some1′s latest update now supports 6.60 OFW, I opted to change the guide to completely encompass every 6.xx OFW. I’ll be updating the Dummy’s Guide accordingly as well.

Homebrew Loader 118 for PSP with 6.60 OFW

Looks like the devs of PSP homebrew community are back on their feet. Wololo has recently released an update HBL build meant for the latest PSP OFW, 6.60. Just to be clear, HBL will not be able to run the Prometheus ISO loader so you’ll need to wait for an LCFW/proper HEN for loading ISOs.

Requirements for Homebrew Loader 118 on PSP 6.60 OFW

This is fairly straightforward.

Any PSP with 6.60 OFW (yes hbl works across all PSP models)
Wololo’s homebrew loader v 118

How to install Homebrew Loader 118 on PSP 6.60 OFW

Extract the hbl-r118.zip file on your computer
Copy all the contents of the resulting folder (hbl-r113) into the root of your memory stick. You should end up with a h.bin file at the root of your memory stick, as well as a hbl folder, and a “HBL” folder in PSP/GAME
Put homebrews you wish to run in your PSP/GAME folder (emulators, apps, etc).
Run “Half Byte Loader” on your PSP. Once loaded, you should see a basic menu with a list of homebrews. Click on “X” to start one

Just like with previous HBL releases, you’ll still be able to run homebrew games, emulators, etc but not anything that needs kernel access like playing ISOs.

Neuron’s 6.39 ME 9.2 (L)CFW released

Neuron has recently updated his ME CFW for both hackable and non-hackable PSPs

Extract the release_639me.zip file.

Copy 639.PBP folder into at ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE
Run the installer from the XMB

For non-hackable/partially hackable PSPs
Requirements:

A PSP with 6.39 OFW (if you don’t have it, you can follow this guide on how to upgrade to 6.39 OFW)
Download 6.39 LLCFW ME 9.2 : Mirror 1 | Mirror 2

How to install 6.39 ME LCFW 9.2:

Extract the release_639lme.zip file.
copy installer folder and launcher folder at ms0:/PSP/GAME/.
Run the installer from the XMB
Press x to install LCFW.

Important Notes to enter RecoveryMenu?
From XMB :Open VshMenu and select “Enter Recovery ->”
From LCFW:Execute “639 launcher” again.
From OFW :Execute “639 launcher” with hold “R”.

HowTo: Uncorrupt your PSP saves

If you upgraded your PSP’s CFW and suddenly found yourself stuck with corrupt save games then here’s a guide on how to fix them.

Requirements:

A PSP with CFW
Download Free Cheat
Download SED

Warning: this guide is not for the faint of heart. If you have little knowledge of hacking your PSP, start reading the Dummy’s Guide to PSP CFW.

How to fix PSP’s corrupt saves

Extract both archives (FreeCheat.zip and SED.zip)
Copy the FreeCheat folder into the x:/seplugins
Copy the SED folder to x:/PSP/GAME/
Go to the seplugins folder of your PSP
Open the game.txt file (if you don’t have one, create it) and add this txt:
If you’re above CFW 3.80 M33
```
ms0:/seplugins/FreeCheat/fc_3xx.prx 1
```
or if you have anything below that
```
ms0:/seplugins/FreeCheat/fc_371.prx
```
On your VSH menu (press select on the XMB), select RESET Hen (this option is not available to permanent CFWs so you need to restart your PSP)
Important: Move your corrupted game save into the root directory of your PSP. Don’t worry, we’re just moving it out of the way so we can actually repair it.
Start the game you want to recover the save file from
Play the game up until the point when you can save (some games allow you to save from the very first menu, others you need to play first)
Before saving the game, press note to bring up the FreeCheat console
On the freecheat console go to Mem Manager -> SAVEDATE Manager -> Operate Mode -> Dump
Press X to revert to the game so you can start creating a save file
After the save file has been created, exit the game and connect your PSP to your PC
Navigate your PSP’s directory to ms0:/seplugins/FreeCheat/SAVEDATA. You will see 2 files in it, .key file and a .sav file. Example given below:
```
ULJM-05500.key and ULJM-05500_0.sav
```
Rename the key file as such ULJM-05500.key to ULJM055000.bin. Take note that it’s now a .bin file and missing the “-”.
Important Note: Just copy the format not the actual text. If not your save file will not work.
Copy this file into /PSP/GAME/SED/
Move the new save game that you created from x:/PSP/SAVEDATA/ to anywhere on your computer. You’ll need this later.
Copy back the corrupted save (the one you moved earlier) back into x:/PSP/SAVEDATA/.
Important: The directory of the saved game should match the name of the .bin file you just created. If it doesn’t, rename the .bin file to match it.
Run SED again and find the new save file (the one you just created a few minutes back)
Press Triangle to bring up the options and select the 2nd one from the top.
Press O and select “Yes” and press O again. SED will now repair your savefile using the one you created with this guide.
Start your game as normal and enjoy your repaired save file

The PRO Team has released a new update (albeit minor) to their LCFW builds for 6.20 OFW, 6.35 OFW and 6.39 OFW.

6.20 Pro-B8, 6.35 Pro-B8 and 6.39 Pro-B8 are now available for download. Not much fan fare for PRO-B8 like the PRO Popsloader but it does bring some bugfixes:

Install 6.20 / 6.39 TN Xtended HEN on your PSP

ALoader developer Ardi has released TN Xtended HEN, targeting both 6.20 OFW and 6.39 OFW.

Both releases include the latest builds of Total_Noob’s HENs (6.20 TN-E and 6.39 TN-A) with an integrated ISO-Loader (aLoader). Compared to what’s on the PRO side of things (like 6.20 PRO-B7 and 6.39 PRO-B7), Ardi’s 6.20 / 6.39 TN Xtended HEN is 100% safe as it doesn’t write anything on the PSP’s flash0.

The downside of that of course is that you have to run the TN Xtended installer again everytime your PSP comes from a coldboot, but hey, at least you’re 100% safe right?

TN Xtended also features 3 ISO drivers: NP9660, March33 (M33), and Inferno (default) for maximum compatibility.

Requirements:

A PSP with 6.20 OFW or 6.39 OFW
Download the TN XTended Hen for your current firmware version:
- 6.20 OFW: Mirror 1 | Mirror 2
- 6.39 OFW: Mirror 1 | Mirror 2

Important Note: If you already have a HEN or LCFW loaded (like 6.20 TN-E or 6.39 PRO-B7) you will need to unload/uninstall it.

How to install 6.20 / 6.39 TN Xtended HEN on your PSP?

Extract the TN Xtended installer on your computer
Copy the PSP folder to the root of your PSP’s memory stick or your PSP Go’s storage
Run the TN Xtended installer
Follow on screen prompts

Simple right?

To load games, simply copy your free PSP games onto the ISO folder on the root of your PSP’s memory stick or your PSP Go’s storage. If you don’t have an ISO folder, create it.

New Popsloader for 6.xx Pro CFWs

VirtualFlame has released an all new popsloader plugin for the Team Liquid’s 6.xx Pro LCFW (and permanent CFWs).

If you’re wondering what the popsloader is, it’s basically a plugin to increase the compatibility of PSX games for the PSP (POPS means PlayStation ON on PSP System). It loads the kernel plugin (POPS) from the emulator from previous firmwares such as 3.10 or 3.40 and allows you to play with enjoy compatibility to legacy firmwares like 5.00 M33-6 and 5.50 GEN-D3.

To install, you will need:

A PSP with any 6.xx PRO CFW installed:
- 6.20 PRO-B5, 6.20 PRO-B6, 6.20 PRO-B7
- Any 6.35 PRO release like 6.20 PRO-B5, 6.20 PRO-B6, 6.20 PRO-B7
- 6.39 PRO-B6, 6.39 PRO-B7

How to install Popsloader 6.XX CFW

Extract the 6.XXPRO POPS.zip file
Copy the seplugins folder on the root of your memory stick.
If you already have an seplugins folder (meaning you already have another plugin installed):
- Copy the contents 6.XXPRO POPS folder seplugins folder
- Open up the pops.txt file and add the line:
```
ms0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx 1
```
If you have a PSP Go, you will need to edit the pops.txt file as follows:
```
ef0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx 1
```

6.20, 6.35 and 6.39 PRO-B7 now available

Team Liquid has released a new update to their PRO LCFW builds for 6.20 OFW, 6.35 OFW and 6.39 OFW.

6.20 Pro-B7, 6.35 Pro-B7 and 6.39 Pro-B7 are now available for download.

PSP 6.39 TN-A Hen released

Total Noob and HacKmaN have ported their 6.38 TN HEN (which was shown as a proof of concept only and never publicly released) to 6.39 OFW and released it as 6.39 TN-A Hen.

6.39 TN-A was built from 6.20 TN-E so you can simply checkout the changelog from this post. This release also includes some bug fixes that didn’t get fixed in 6.20 TN-E like the psp go freezing while to your PC via usb, when no M2 Card is inserted, etc.

6.39 TN-A Hen supports Homebrews, 6.3X Plugins, PS1 Games (PSN PS1 Games and converted PS1 Games), etc.

Important Note: There currently is no working ISO loader (even the Prometheus ISO loader isn’t working yet) for 6.39 TN-A Hen but ardi, the developer of aLoader has promised that he will port his latest release (aLoader 1.25) to 6.39.

Requirements:

A PSP with 6.39 OFW installed
Download 6.39 TN-A Hen: Mirror 1 | Mirror 2

How to install 6.39 TN-A Hen on your PSP:

Download the 6.39 TN-A installer
Extract to your PC
Copy the resulting PSP over into your memory stick or internal PSPgo storage
Run the 6.39 TN-A installer from your XMB
And you’re done!

If you want a Hen or LCFW for 6.39 OFW with an ISO loader, you may want to look at 6.39 Pro-B6.

Team Liquid releases 6.20/6.35/6.39 Pro-B6

Team Liquid is on a roll today, releasing not three versions of the latest build of their Pro LCFW for 6.20 OFW, 6.35 OFW and 6.39 OFW. The best part is that they’re compatible with just about every PSP model and revision (except for 6.20 Pro-B6 which can’t be installed on 7g and 9g PSPs).
