According to Andrisang, Hatsune Miku series PR person Nakanohito 1go has announced via twitter than the project’s internal code name is “Project MMT.” I’m hoping it’s a PS Vita title as Sega will surely want to target the new console (and then in all likelyhood release a Dreamy Theater title for it on the PS3 as well).

The milestone includes all three current Project Diva games that are available exclusively on the PSP: Project Diva, Project Diva 2nd and Project Diva Extend. No word of this number accounts for the sales of the PS3 DLC, the Dreamy Theater series but it’s likely that they aren’t included.

That number, admittedly small compared to the best sellers of the season (Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim), is a boon for Vocaloid fans. The series’ success on the PSP as well as their pricey yet irresistible PS3 counterparts (Dreamy Theater, Dreamy Theater 2) ensures more Project Diva games to come.

Kojima had earlier stated that he wanted to leave the Metal Gear franchise behind. From the interview, it appears that he’ll be spearheading the production but it is unclear if it’ll be as a top-level producer or a hands-on director. Please make it the latter.

With the Metal Gear Solid HD collection just hitting the market for the PS3 and 360, now is the best time to grab a copy and replay everything in preparation for MGS 5.

No word on a timeline or a target console but like Blizzard, we can expect it to get released when it’s ready.

I’m still playing Gundam vs Gundam Next Plus on my PSP Go and I’m predicting that if I get this on release, I won’t be playing anything else for the next few months at least (which isn’t a bad thing really.. I’ll be able to save up for other purchases ).

So what’s idolM@ster all about? You play as a producer of 765 Productions and get to pick three of nine (three girls are usable only in some modes, while two other girls are “bonus” characters) girls to train, produce and raise to stardom. It might sound simple from the basic description but the truth is, it’s quite a challenging game. I failed a few times and had to restart my progress because of several BAD decisions (:(). To sum up the game, it really is a production simulator as you have to keep track of your idol unit’s standings, sales, how you do events in each region, etc.

You have to play it right the first time, every time.

Each bad decision will cost you (trust me… I ended up with the bad ending easily :/).

I’m currently on my second playthrough (My first unit, Miki, Hibiki and Makoto didn’t make it ) and I’m hoping to get it right this time (but it’s not likely… ).

The game isn’t for everyone, it’s an otaku game after all (so yes, it’s about girls, but definitely a game made for the male populace). There’s no localization (or plans for it as per Namco) so you need to understand the Japanese Kanas and a bit of Kanji to play the game competently. And lastly, you’re a background character as this game centers about the idols, not you, the producer. Ritsuko is an exception because she’s a producer AND joins Ryuuguu Komachi as a part-time idol.

PS: Sorry if this post got waylaid. Judging from my introduction above, yes, you can tell that I’m a fan of the series. I’m following the anime and have been waiting for the game to come over to the PS3 as it was earlier an Xbox exclusive. I’m so happy to have found a local seller (thanks Homer for referring him to me) that has stocks of the game .

Personally I would have opted for the Idolmaster Special Box but it’s a pricey investment ($250). The standalone game’s price is quite hefty already (thanks to the Yen’s strong economy and the US dollars weak value) so I’ll just have to make do with what I can afford.

To reward you from your efforts in playing this idol production simulator, there are several “fanservice” modes in which you can spend your time with your idols. If you have the standard game like me, you can enjoy the Stage4you PV mode. It lets you pick your idols, dress them up, pick a song and watch them perform it on stage. If you have the Limited Edition box then you can play the Gravure For You! mode.  The images below should explain what it is:

Hatsune Miku Project Diva Extend (formerly Project Diva 2.5) will be releasing on the PlayStation this November.

Extend will offer the same gameplay as the previous game in the series, Project Diva 2 (like simultaneous button presses and long button presses) with additional refinements and balances.

Diva Extend will feature a new set of new tracks (as well as old ones revamped) and as well as Modules (costumes) for your favorite Vocaloid.

Here are some finer details for Project Diva Extend:

• The game will feature 36 tracks, 19 of which are new to the game franchise
• DLC songs and modules from Project Diva 2nd will also be found in the game – except the Idolmaster content
• The upgraded DIVA room will have more than 40 events

Atlus will be working with ASW, the company behind the BlazBlue game franchise to bring us a 2D fighter based on the Persona 4 universe.

Andriasang (via Famitsu) has confirmed some information about the game:

-Arcade Mode: Face off against CPU opponents while following the story
-Story Mode: Delve deeper into the arcade mode’s story. This will be exclusive to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
-Score Attack Mode: Face off against CPU opponents to get the high score
-VS Mode: Face off against a CPU or human opponent
-Online Battle: Face off against players throughout the world in online combat

Anyone interested in seeing the game early can play an early build of the arcade version of the game at both the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) and the 49th Amusement Machine Show (JAMMA) on the 15th-18th and the 15th – 17th respectively.

Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena is set for release on the arcades in Spring of 2012 with PS3 and Xbox 360 versions coming a few months after.

Like both of the Gundam vs Gundam, and Gundam vs Gundam Next Plus on the PSP, Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs is a fighting game that pits some of the famous units in the gundam universe in a team battle. Now, I’m not sure if it’s limited to a simple 2-on-2 bout since GVG and GVG NP has several stages where in you fight up to 3 opponents at a time but this is certainly the case for multiplayer mode.

Extreme Vs takes a page from Next Plus with an implementation of the Next Boost called Extreme Action. When executed (tap X twice), Extreme Action will cancel you out of any ancel out of melee attacks with a step, jump or even a shield guard and Step Cancels returns.

Extreme Vs also feaures something called the Extreme Burst (EX Burst), a special attack mode that grants your unit special abilities as well as increased stats. The effect of Extreme Burst varies from one Gundam/Mobile suit to the next so be sure to experiment. When used to attack (AKA an Extreme Burst Attack), there will be an animated cut-in followed by a devastating attack from your chosen mobile suit.

For those unfamiliar with the game, in the Idolmaster series you are the producer. You play the game by managing the idols under you by making them go through dance and song lessons and helping them pass auditions to get on TV shows. It’s a combination of a production company simulator and rhythm game. Think Project Diva but with a sprinkle of strategy in the gameplay.

To accommodate new players (like me) the PlayStation 3 version will include a difficulty mode for beginners, oddly named the Normal mode — for experts, you get the Hyper mode.

Idolmaster 2 will be available in two packages, the stand-alone game and the Idolmaster Special Box. The stand alone game will sell for 7,980 yen (~$100) while the limited edition special box will be available for 19,800 yen (~$250). Pricey huh?

The Idolmaster Special Box includes:

Sega has officially announced that the PS3 companion (since you really need the PSP game before you can make the PS3 game run) will be released on August 4, priced at ¥3,900. It’s priced a bit higher first game which came out at ¥3,000. While that may put off some fans, remember that Project Diva 2 has a lot more content (and DLC ) than the original Project Diva game. Of course if you are considering the game, money shouldn’t be an issue since you’re shelling out for a PSP, a PS3, the copy of the PSP game, Project Diva 2 and then finally the game for the PS3 Hatsune Miku Project Diva Dreamy Theater 2nd.

Sega is set to release a new game with Miku and the gang for the PSP, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2.5.

The gameplay at it’s core is still similar to the past 2 games, Project Diva 1 and Project Diva 2.   Sega says that Version 2.5 adds refinements to improve the play experience from Project Diva 2.  So why is this a new game instead of a patch to the existing one?  Probably to milk the fans more but hey, at least it’s not a paid DLC .

Aside from new songs, costumes (like Fei Yen from the Virtual On), modules (other vocaloids) created by famous illustrators, etc, Sega will be introducing a new difficulty system for Project Diva 2.5 as part of the new game’s refinements:

Easy – only uses the circle button.

Normal -  only uses circle and cross buttons.

Hard – uses all of the buttons, has press and hold notes, and simultaneous presses.

Extreme – ups the difficult with a drastic increase in the number of notes.

The official Vocaloid blog has recently announced that the opening song for Version 2.5 selected by Sega.   The song Sekiranun Graffiti (literally “Thundercloud Graffiti”) is a collaboration between Ryo (supercell) and Dixie Flatline and we’ll probably see a teaser in the next few months.  A sample of the song is available at the official site.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2.5 will be available for PSP this fall.  In hindsight, Hatsune Miku Project Diva Dreamy Theater 2nd is expected to release at around the same time if not earlier so get your wallets ready.

Come August, Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan will be hosting Monster Hunter Portable 3rd event that will feature locations and monsters from the game, in real life. What monsters will be featured is still unknown (a tentative list includes Jinouga, Doboruberuku, Tigrex Subspecies) but Capcom Unity revealed that there will be a full-scaled 1:1 model of the Silver Rathalos. O_O

There will also be a replica of the Spa House and maybe Yukumo Village itself in Studio 8, as well as a realistic creation of the weapon and armors. For cosplay enthusiasts, the event will also feature weapons and armors from the game — this will be as great a resource as any especially if you’re looking to build those fancy armors.

Of course, what Monster Hunter event would not have a tourney. Capcom will be hosting a Time Attack tournament for people who are interested. Prizes will include cash and Monster Hunter merchandise.

As for any news on Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD, it’s possible that Capcom will have a working demo (or at least more information, videos, etc) on the event itself but no information has been announced.
