Project Diva PS3 controller is expensive but awesome

A few weeks back, Hori (yep, if you’re familiar with consoles, it’s the very same company that sells accessories) introduced the Hatsune Miku PS3 controller. It’s ridiculously huge and somewhat gaudy in appearance. And yet despite the 30,000 yen price tag (ouch, extortion much?), I’m really starting to feel that I want/need one.

Why?

Watch this video and learn:

Interesting huh? Not only does it turn your PS3 into an arcade box (with matching buttons that light up to boot) for Dreamy Theater but it also allows you to customize the buttons for either ease of use or putting yourself up to the challenge (reversing everything.. why would you want to do that? I have no idea). The massive contraption measures 690x430x70mm and the display plate at the top can be swapped out with self-made inserts to fit your tastes.

Oh and if you notice, the video is showing a our very first look at Dreamy Theater 2nd. Just like in Dreamy Theater, you’ll be needing a PSP, a copy of the PSP game (Project Diva 2), a PS3 and the PSN-only title, Dreamy Theater 2. Yes, I know. Only die hard fans fall for this obvious money grab trap but I still bought the first one :(.

Hori expects the Project Diva: Hatsune Miku PS3 controller to ship alongside Dreamy Theater 2 this summer. Prepare your wallets.

more information can be found via the game’s official site.
