with this version in the psp can we play ps1/psx games using the psp???

my psp is verion 3.80 m33-5

i downloaded final fantasy 7 from emuparadise.org and converted the game using psx2psp and the game worked,, but just the begginning, when i reach the first battle my psp gets stuck and i cant play anymore,,,,, will this upgrade help me play the game normally???
