What your console says about you?

The choice of console has always been quite a struggle for most. The most frequent questions asked are:

  • What platform is the best?
  • Which platform has the best games?
  • What’s the cheapest?
  • What’s the best value?

Though these seem to be valid questions, your choice of consoles still depends largely on what you want to play on (or as is the trend now-a-days, do with) it. Instead of providing you the usual pros and cons though, I’m giving you a peek at what each gaming console says about you.

  • PlayStation: It’s hard to ignore the popularity of the platform which is why many PlayStation gamers are branded as stereotypes as much as Arcade addicts. Gaming on the PlayStation demands the best gaming experience available, be it graphics-wise or gameplay-wise. Much
    • PlayStation 2: Called the PS2 by it’s fans and lovers, it represents the staple (at least for now according to numbers) of console gaming. People who still love the PS2 are those who prefer staple, tried and tested gameplay or simply those who can’t choose which of the current generation consoles to choose.Recommended Game: God of War
    • PlayStation 3: Early adopters are those who saw the potential of the PS3 and it’s Cell processor. It can be a blu-ray player, a media center and a computer replacement aside from being an amazing current generation console. PS3 players enjoy HD graphics on their games and will not settle for anything less (unless it’s cutesy) and unless it offers a good reason why it’s on a PS3 instead of the PS2.Recommended Game: Assassin’s Creed
    • PlayStation Portable: Mobile Gaming took a big leap with the release of the PSP. Gamers who enjoy their mobile gaming platform want immersive action on the go (Monster Hunter Freedom, God of War and Patapon fit into this category). PSP gamers also enjoy playing other platforms like the PSX or the Gameboy (and Gameboy Color) on their units, to either revive the nostalgia or out of preference.Recommended Game: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
  • Wii: Formerly known as the Nintendo Revolution, the Wii equates to fun. While most of the games on the Wii fits in on the party atmosphere, many of the games are still fun and innovative enough to entertain you until your arms sag from fatigue (boxing and bowling, you’ve got to play it to see it). It’s the cheapest of the current generation consoles but certainly not the least fun which is why many people have bought one. Wii gamers love simple, unadulterated fun either solo or with people.Recommended Game: Wii Sports
  • Xbox 360: The XBOX 360 represents Microsofts serious bid into the gaming console community. The first XBOX was a hit to many hardcore gamers who certainly enjoyed the XBOX Live service making the XBOX platform the system of choice for passionate gamers who enjoy games that have Online Multiplayer features over the solo gaming that other platforms have.Recommended Game: BioShock

Note guys that these are not absolute just like my post on Debunking MMO players. Take them with a pinch of salt and don’t consider them absolutes.

So what should I buy?

Now if you’re still wondering over choosing a platform over the pros and cons, don’t. Just buy one according to your preference of gameplay. Choosing a platform over what you can do and can’t do is limiting you from enjoying your choice to the fullest. Go for a platform that has what you like regardless of flaws and enjoy it while you can.
