WordPress 2.3 Features

I upgraded Atma Xplorer to WordPress 2.3 to test things out.

I noticed a lot of stuff after the upgrade:

  1. An advanced toolbar to the WYSIWYG. If you’re still using WordPress’s Editor, you’ll definitely like the addition features included like the Paste from Word and a Code cleaner.
  2. Native tagging (you can import tags from UTW and Jerome?s Keywords, Simple Tags, and Bunny?s Technorati Tag). I’m hoping this will be integrated into Windows Live Writer as well.
  3. Full support for Atom 1.0, including the publishing protocol.

The full list of new features is here.

There seems to be a bit of problem with the Autosave function now though. After autosave for the WYSIWYG kicked in, this error popped up. I’ll ask around in WP.com for some help on the error and until it gets resolved I’ll stick to 2.2.2 and with Windows Live Writer.

EDIT: The problem seems to lie with several of my existing plugins. I had to remove and/replace some of them to get 2.3 to work properly with UTW on top of the list. Good thing there’s a Tag Importer for the new version. Here’s a list of compatible and incompatible plugins that you need to check out before upgrading.

Well you can use the WP-Automatic Upgrade plugin to make it simple. Just reference the link above for the compatible plugins and check if what you’re using is in the list so as not to end up like me. It took 2 full hours until I figured it out.

If you’re upgraded properly you should have this on your WYSIWYG. Or are you referring to the button that the WP-table places on the editor?
